Dr Utembe studied for a B.Sc (Hons) in Physical Chemistry from 1991 to 1996 from the University of Malawi (Chancellor College). He then moved to Cambridge University, Sidney Sussex College, where he studied for a PhD in Atmospheric from 1997 to 2000. His research focuses on the development and application of models of tropospheric chemistry, including mercury. He currently works at the Melbourne University’s School of Earth Sciences.
