Professor Amanda Reichelt-Brushett has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Coastal Management from the University of New England, a Master of Science in Marine Chemistry from James Cook University and a PhD in Marine Ecotoxicology from Southern Cross University. She teaches environmental chemistry, pollution studies, catchment management and ecosystem restoration at Southern Cross University. Her research is dedicated to improving environmental conditions through the understanding and mitigation of stressors. She is editor and co-author of a new text book, due out soon, titled: Marine Pollution -Monitoring, Management and Mitigation. Her focus on trace metal pollution and toxicity has led to collaborations in Indonesia focussing on mercury from small scale gold mining activities. Amanda works more expansively with communities in the Asia-Pacific region to help understand various local marine pollution issues and improve environmental outcomes. She is currently President of the Asia-Pacific geographic unit of Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC A-P).
